This stand is holding up a Dell 2408WFP which in terms of weight supposedly should not be supported properly. I have some troubles lifting the arm up or down(although once set in position it is golden) due to my monitor being overweight but the tilt, swivel and other functionality works 100% without any hitches. In order to life the arm up and down though I need to apply a force upwards on it before it will let me even push the sides in allowing me to lift up or push down which can be a bit of work alone.

Still for being an overweight it still works surprisingly well, and I would assume even better if your monitor is closer within the specs of this arm. I would suggest you create your own wire management if your using many monitor inputs since the wire management built into the arm is pretty weak easily popping out with a few too many cables.

This monitor arm was able to fix two problems with my factory default stand, better options for adjusting the monitor to the perfect tilt, distance and height. Also the 2408WFP standard stand comes with a defect that slightly slants the monitor in one direction which for some is fine but my head wanted to adjust to it putting stress on my neck and shoulders.

I just picked up the stand hoping it would work and it did. If your within spec of this than you will be golden otherwise if you want to save a little money with a heavier screen you should be ok with this (24 inch or less) but might want to consider getting one designed for its weight just for safety and ease of adjusting height.

I wanted to free up some space on my desk top as well as the ability to rotate my monitor. I decided to try the 3M mount. Wow, was I surprised at what I got. Very easy to install. It went up in a few short minutes. Very easy to use. I was immediately able to move my monitor in all 3 dimensions. It is a little stiff at first but that keeps it in place as it floats the monitor in space over your desk. 90 degree rotation was no problem. It’s a snap to rotate it to scan through long web pages. This is a big advantage of a widescreen monitor IF you can rotate it 90 degrees. I was so happy with my purchase I bought a second one for my other computer. This thing just flat out works exactly as it should. It is pricy but worth it!

At $95 currently, 3M’s monitor arm isn’t as cheap as the alternatives but it is a good product regardless. The arm is exceptionally sturdy with a swooping design to each of the arm components that gives it a certain solid attractiveness. It comes with clamp and grommet options for mounting to the desk, and two separate plates for mounting to monitors. It’s rated to hold up to 18 pounds. With the slimming of today’s LCD monitors, that’s guaranteed to be good through 22-23 inch monitors. Full swing, tilt, pan and swivel movement is possible with this arm and retains position when moved from one orientation to the other (some mechanical adjustment is required up front to set the right friction).

I don’t know that I’d buy such a product at $95, but it’s apparent that it’s built to last and there’s no cut corners. So it justifies a good rating and if you see this for a price that justifies the use you’d get out of it, at least you’ll know there’s no need to hesitate on the basis of quality.
