My wife’s laptop was getting old and slow. Well, it wasn’t getting slower, but software was getting bigger and more bloated, so it ran slower. She was using my old laptop, the one I bought for development use many years ago. It too, was an Acer, and I was extremely pleased with it. After some research, I decided to get another Acer. Acer typically builds excellent laptops with a lot more features and performance for the price than the “big names” (i.e. Dell).

This laptop was on for a great price, so I grabbed it. I’m quite pleased with it, and so is my wife. It has a webcam built into it, which is great for Skype. It’s fast, has a huge widescreen, and is wide enough to have a numeric keypad.

On the down side, the screen has that idiotic glossy reflective surface that is “in vogue” for laptops right now, instead of the sensible matte anti-glare surface that has been the standard up to now. It makes the screen look sharper, but it means every light source behind you is reflected in the screen.

Also, the built-in microphone is less than worthless. When using Skype, the microphone picks up all the humming and whirring from the fans and hard drive. I plugged a cheap external microphone into it, and that problem was solved.

I wish it had come with Windows 7 Pro instead of Home, but oh well. It works and does what it is supposed to do. It’s quite fast, and my wife loves it. I expect it to last for many, many years, based on my previous experience with Acers. And, it was cheap. I recommend it!

Very pleasantly surprised by this laptop. Runs fast and smooth, built-in camera is the smoothest webcam I’ve ever seen (like watching TV!), and plenty of “headroom” on the HD for programs.

Highly recommended for a beginner -or- an advanced user.

Also, battery life is l-o-n-g on this one — lasts far longer than the manual says it should between charges. You will love this laptop!

I was a little skeptic about this… the name “Acer”, wasn’t a familiar name to me. I’ve always had the “OTHER” type. I have to tell you that, I really love this product. I use it everyday, all day.
I would recommend this to everyone.
    You won’t be sorry!

when I get the laptop turned it on immediately and very quickly by the windows 7.

I will summarize in a few points which I think

I feel very good pc but I have two complaints.

    BRINGS NO MICROPHONE
EL WIFI sometimes works a little slow.

the rest I’m very happy with my laptop.

It was exactly what I was looking for. A notebook with which I can study, with good processor + RAM + hard drive and at a great price!
