Extremely happy with this laptop so far (about 2 months usage) – all the power I need, and ultraportable. Definitely recommended.

I’ve owned the Acer Aspire AS3810T-837, for about 6 weeks now, and have taken it on a couple of vacations. So weight and battery life is like a almost like a netbook, but with 4GB memory, and a Core 2 Duo (SU7300) CPU, it has the capability to run a lot of apps pretty snappily. I’ve been surprised and pleased with how fast it boots up and shuts down.

When i first had it, I timed the life of the battery at ~7.5 hrs., so pretty close to the claimed 8 hours. I try to always operate from battery and only charge when it is pretty low. I think it’s life is at 6.5-7 hrs. lately, which is still great for me. The extrenal DVD Drive I bought gets it’s power from the computer, so I would expect DVD viewing to substantially reduce battery life.

The touchpad has some unique features, such as 2-finger circular motions which will cause the display to scroll, but they are difficult to get to operate all the time. I’m still learning.

But overall, I’ve been very happy with the purchase. It was about $150 cheaper when I bought it on Amazon than it is right now.

Short and sweet: My netbook got stolen and I replaced it with this unit. It’s sooooo much faster than an Atom processor, great visuals on the display, about 4 1/2 hrs average on battery life. No suprise, but only minus (and i knew this before getting unit) is speaker sound. Hopefully this will be corrected on future models. I like the 13.3″ display (for these 60 year old eyes) So, summary: VERY SATISFIED

I recently traded my work laptop in for a desktop and the laptop at home was a desktop replacement and over three years old so I started to do research on something smaller and lighter to kind of replace both. I wanted something that was easily portable but also had enough processing power which would address my daily PC needs. I’m not a gamer, nor a power user, but I probably fall into the 90% of PC/Laptop users, I use it for some Microsoft product needs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc) as well as email, iTunes, surfing and streaming some flicks once in a while.

So I was looking for something which could do all of these tasks, be able to hook it up to two external monitors, have a decent hard drive capacity for my photos and music, come with 4 gig of ram with the cap being 8 gig. I wanted this to be a little lighter than my previous laptops as I am going to be traveling more….well through a lot of research it came down to the Acer.

Now I did have some reservations regarding buying an Acer, they haven’t been known for their reliability in the past…but the more research I did, the more I found this laptop to be the one for me.

First of all, the screen is fantastic, very clear. Windows 7 runs like a champ, I connected to my home network with very little effort (no more trying to figure out what type of network security you are running), its very quiet and very cool.

I’m only a week in using this, but so far…so good.

If you are looking to use (2) external monitors, I suggest using the Kensington Display Adapter, it works like a champ with the Windows 7 drivers available on their website.

I think this is a great laptop for a great value.

Very nice looking. Processing speed is OK with Win7, waits for opening apps are not annoying. Tons of hard drive and RAM for the price. Integrated webcam has a very nice image. “Trackpad disable” button is a very useful feature. Light. Keyboard feels better than I expected. Solid.

The only cons and the reason it doesn’t get 5 stars: only 3 USB ports, glossy screen is VERY sensitive to viewing angle, and lid/screen has no latch.
