I’ve had this over a year. It works great over VGA (used a 25 foot vga cord for a year and worked great, although it is very susceptible to ground loop, only connect to the same socket as the computer!)

Recently, I finally got around to getting a 25 foot HDMI cable. Two actually, one for the computer and one for the Xbox360 (both are across the room under the main plasma tv.) Now, I can connect the hdmi cable to the dvi input fine (using a dvi->hdmi adapter of course) and it works every time with any source, pc, xbox, satellite, whatever. So the DVI input is fine. But if I try to plug ANYTHING into the hdmi, it basically NEVER works. I’ve gotten the Xbox to work on it a couple of times, but turn the monitor off and it quits working again.

The HDMI on this monitor IS BASICALLY NON-FUNCTIONAL. It is not my setup, as I’ve tried it with several sources and cables. I have also found this to be common in the reviews, many others cannot get this hdmi to work. Which is basically a rip-off. I got this monitor with the idea that eventually I would plug two digital sources in (hdmi and dvi), but the hdmi does not work. Had I known this, I would have gone with a different monitor. This is my second Acer lcd monitor and my last. I will go with another manufacturer next time. My wife’s Asus 24″ works just fine, i’ll probably go with Asus next time.

IF YOU NEED THE HDMI, STAY AWAY. ITS BASICALLY A GAMBLE AS TO WHETHER IT WORKS ON YOUR SETUP.

What a year of annoyance- I had to send in for repair 4 times for the same problem (they never could fix it). They make you pay to ship it to them (make sure and factor that into the price you pay). I initiated mediation through Dept. of Consumer Affairs- they’re response was I would have to keep sending it back for repair. So I had to take them to small claims court. They settled out of court for purchase price plus $40 for court fees plus $40 for misc. but definitely not worth the hassles.

This is one of the wave of sub-$200 1080p LCD monitors. Like all the others, it’s a TN. Unlike most of them, it’s a 23.6″ display instead of 22″. Not a huge difference, but I like the slightly larger screen.

I haven’t noticed any ghosting, and I play a lot of first-person shooters, including several hundred hours of COD4 (after coming off an obviously ghosting-free CRT).

As with all TN monitors, the viewing angles are limited. I often watch movies from distances of less than 3 feet, and it becomes obvious — but unlike older-generation displays, it remains watchable and usually isn’t distracting. The backlighting isn’t perfectly even but only becomes noticeable within large black areas on the screen edges, and again isn’t distracting (at least for me). I have never noticed any of the viewing angle or backlighting issues while playing a game, surfing the web, or using software — only while watching movies.

My display had no issues with dead pixels, and both the DVI and HDMI inputs work appropriately. Changing signal sources takes a second or two but I spend more time waiting for my PS3 or PC to wake up than for the monitor to display their output.

I purchased this about a month ago. It was an easy set up with my Mac Mini. What I had to do was adjust the resolution of the monitor, which was pretty straightforward from the Preferences Panel. The other adjustments were to the monitor itself. This is a little tricky as the instructions for this monitor are rather minimal-to non existent. There are essentially 2 toggle buttons for adjusting the monitor. The monitor has no dead pixel spots. One adjustment that everyone is making is reducing the brightness. It is WAY TOO bright. Other than that, highly recommended. Fast Free shipment from Amazon.
