The new Mac Pro is nothing if not fast and fun to work with. There are a few things that I had to do some research on.
For more USB ports you will need an “Express” PCi card. Not just any PCi card that says it works with OS X. The Belkin USB 2.0 Express Pci Card 4-EXTERNAL/1-INTERNAL, model #F5U252 comes highly recommended by Apple and is available here on Amazon.
If you want to add a second internal superdrive there is the Samsung Internal SATA ‘Super-MultiDrive’ DVD DL/CD w/LightScribe and the Pioneer DVR-218L Internal DVD/CD Writer with Serial ATA Interface both available from Other World Computing [...]. Amazon lists these too but will redirect you to OWC.
You might also find yourself having to update some software for the sake of OS X Snow Leopard. I was using CS2 versions of Adobe programs. Everything has worked but I will have to update InDesign to CS5. Fortunately Adobe offers 30-day trial versions that you can actually print from and create PDFs with. I also had to replace an HP printer, but it was five years old.

So far…So good!! Tired of PCs! Too many problems. I’ve had the Mac Pro for a month now and I would make the purchase again.
I’ve made several purchases from Amazon and have yet to have a problem.

I started off my mac experience with a standard 17 inch imac. I loved it so much that I saved up for a mac pro. I have installed a 2nd superdrive and an airport card in it myself without any issues whatsoever. It is just a great computer. I almost enjoy reading from the folks who like to smear Apple. If you like Windows than by all means stick with it. It is not a popularity contest between OSX and Windows. It is what individual people like. I just love that Apple makes my computer experience enjoyable and easy. The Mac Pro and imac are both great machines. I just like all the upgrades I can do and have done to the mac pro. This thing is a tank in how it is built and its weight so hopefully you won’t have to move it around too much!!!

I bought this because Alienware delayed my order 2 times. This is the best computer you can have overnighted to get you up and gaming again!

    Had this for six months.

It’s Windows 95 with the worst customer service. They actually charge you to read from a book that solves nothing.

If you are an unsophisticated user that doesn’t mind 1995 software technology then buy the Mac Pro with Snow Leopard.

There is so much software that Apple just does not support, and so many things that you just can’t do on a Mac, that I really expected some polish. It’s all form over substance, and quite honestly – bad form. Apple only does simple, but still can’t get it right.

You thought this was a multimedia machine? Do your research. Apple is no longer better than PC’s with Windows for graphic or video development.

They roll out OSX updates every 100 days or so. Every time, a slew of users lose functionality. Apple may fix it – IN THE NEXT UPDATE – 107 days later.

Weird thing is – the cult of Apple users accept this. If you look at Apple support forums (only offers other user support) you will see that Mac owners often go several updates (longer than a year in some cases) without sound, wireless connectivity, etc.

You really want this junk? buy mine – 1/2 price.
