All I have to say is this is a great computer and if you need service Apple is available right away unlike some other PC vendors.

Overall the machine is good, fast and responsive.

I bought this Mac to replace the one I had used for 4 years (the logic board failed on it). I was hesitant about getting this one because of the preloaded version of OS X and my fears were confirmed. I am a graphic designer and have several Adobe design programs and this version of OS X makes it very unstable. Probably because the programs are older but us starving artists simply cannot afford to get new hardware and new software all at once.

I don’t like the fact that all the USB ports are gathered on one side. My old machine had two one one side and one on the other making it quick and simple to plug things in. When they are all on one side space is tight and I have to grab the wireless mouse usb with my fingernails because there isn’t room to use anything else to unplug it.

I am very happy with my new MacBook Pro 17″. It is fast and very sleek. I like the compact solid feeling that the unibody gives it. I recommend it!

After owning 4 laptop PCs over the years and ALL of them crashing on me due to nasty viruses, I decided to make the leap. What can I say that hasn’t already been said before…soooo easy to use, sooo easy to install programs, sooo sexy, sooo fast! I could go on and on. Graphics and integration with Adobe products and my iPhone apps are much smoother.

Service, service, and more service. Apple is there to give you TLC, no matter what your issues are.

    Love it!

I’m not really a Mac guy, but I do iPhone development, and the Unix-like features come in handy from time to time. I’ve been doing development on an old MacBook Classic with the tiny screen and really not liking it much. Primarily I bought this one for the big screen and faster CPU.

This thing is huge, and it weighs a ton. For the life of me I’ll never know why Apple insists on using those stupid glossy screens. And the keyboard still stinks. Jobs was wrong, a few extra keys like page up and down might be nice. And yet there’s an eject key for the DVD drive, which no one uses. (Because we all use iTunes, right?) Hate the stupid touch pad.

But that’s where the complaints end. I love the fact that it reliably starts up and shuts down in seconds. I love how fast it can pair and connect with BlueTooth devices and WiFi networks. The aluminum case is super tough, even if it is cold to the touch in winter. And even though it’s huge, I can adjust the screen so that I can reasonably, if a bit uncomfortably, use it to get work done in coach on AirTran (which is really, really tight).

The absolute best part is the battery. I can get a real 6+ hours of work out of a charge. It’s awesome. No more fighting over electrical outlets at the coffee shop. Definitely a boon.

Add to that a decent command shell and Remote Desktop from Microsoft, and I can get just about all my work done for all my different projects on this system. Thumbs up. If only it didn’t cost so much.
