I found the price for the hardware in this system to be a great deal. However, I had problems with the optimus technology. The Optimus technology is where the nvidia drivers will automatically decide which video card to use for saving battery and still giving performance when needed. I was unable to play any games with the latest drivers. The other reviews will show the same problem. I ended up returning this item for this very reason. I am sad I had to return it because the other alternatives I found were significantly more expensive :/. At any rate If you are not worried about your video card performance this is a great deal and I would recommend it highly. And who knows, Nvidia might come out with the working driver any day now…

The right laptop at the right price. Fulfills my work and play needs both at home and on the road.
ASUS should get more and better reviews as their products are at least as good as the competitors if not better in my opinion. Their one issue is the same as all the rest … proprietary crap! I hate having to open/install stuff just to find out what it is. Though I will use some of these i have to be bothered with uninstalling the rest and then having to do registry repairs. we all know how fun that can be!
over all a 4 1/2 star is what i would grade if halves were available.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. This is my first Asus product and, so far, it’s working very well. Yes, you do get fingerprints on the case, but they’re easily cleaned off. The matte interior finish provides a good resting area for the wrists and the keyboard is well spaced and very responsive. Plenty of room for typing.

The computer performs very well. It’s fast and has a great display. The sound is good and it has plenty of ports. I haven’t tried the HDMI out yet and I don’t have any USB 3.0 outboard gear yet so I can’t evaluate these. Not a lot of bloatware, mostly Asus tools.

Time will tell if this PC can perform as well and last as long as my old Compaq laptop which is still going strong and will now be used by my girlfriend.

If you’re looking for a system that has a comparable feel and quality grade to the likes of the apple macbook pro you need not search any further.

This is the best laptop I’ve ever purchased in my 3+ years of being a laptop user. From the comfortable island style keyboard with the cool/soft to touch rubberized palm rest; the exceptionally crafted build quality of the system or even the accurately precise multi-touch track-pad, I’m definitely pleased with this purchase.

Performance wise, this laptop has more than met my expectations. I’m also truly blown away by the Nvidia optimus technology, which clearly makes a difference in battery life for such a powerful system. The speed of the USB 3.0 port is off the hook. bought an USB 3.0 enclosure to check the speed and I must say, the results were definitely not what I’d expected. Love it! Love it! Love it!

Alas though, my only gripe is that this version of the laptop does not come with the frame-less screen LCD. The picture used to illustrate this system showed edge-to-edge glass for the screen but mine did not come with any (tis, tis).

I was searching for a good laptop for about 2 months and my decision came down to the N61JV and the U30JC. I’m glad I went with this one.

Asus… you have a Very Nice Product here… but you ruin it with 3gb’s worth of Bloatware!!!

I have tried three times to format the hardware and do a Clean Install of Windows 7 Premium (using a a brand new copy which I had purchased).

You can’t do it! The Asus has a 3.1gb partition which you cannot delete or alter.
Every time I do a new install, all the Bloatware automatically re-installs !!!!grrrrr.

So, I have had to remove as much of the bloatware, program by program, knowing that remnants in the registry will still slow things down!

Asus… Wake Up !!!! There are a lot of people upset with this and you would get Glowing, Five-Star Reviews were it not for the Bloatware Issue!
