I looked at quite a few combo printers before purchasing this one. I just switched from an inkjet and will never go back…the ink always seems to dry up way too fast. Of course, I do seem to go a while between printing. I have owned the MFC 7340 now for about two plus months and I am very satisfied with it. It was delivered very fast and was relatively easy to set up. The one thing I wasn’t real happy with was how I had to search through a boat load of information on the disk to find how to set up the scanner with my Mac…it could have been simplified with better headings on the disk. Otherwise I have been very happy with this purchase…it prints and scans fast and does a nice job.

This printer has performed a million times better than any other I have used in recent years. It is quiet, rarely jams, the quality is great, and we’ve had no problems with copying, scanning or printing, although we have yet to use the fax feature. The only complaint I have is that, predictably, the ink ran out fairly soon, and gave a warning that the ink was low. I even think it refused to print any more at that point. We then blocked the sensor so it wouldn’t read when the ink was “low” and it started printing again without problem. The really frustrating thing is that the machine told us to change the ink cartridge MONTHS ago, we did not, and it has gone on print just fine since then, including a 70+ document that we just printed out this morning. Just a scam to get you to buy new ink long before you actually need it.

This machine was very easy to set up and seems to do everything it claims to do. The software interface is easy to understand and I am very happy. Have been using it only a week, but haven’t found any issues.

This is not my first Brother product and that’s why I bought this one. Works great and does what it’s supposed to with no hassle.

I do have one major complaint. They package a special version of Paperport with the unit. The software sucks. It repeatedly crashes in Vista and then restarts itself endlessly so you have to reboot. Nuance won’t give you any help since it’s a “special’ version. Still looking for a good scanning/document management program. The Brother software is a bit clutzy so I’m stuck with Scan Manager in Windows until I find something better.

Printer worked like a charm with my older G4 Mac. Wish it had a paper tray that could be pulled out where it deposits papers after printing instead of “peaking” out the side as it does now. Same goes for the “manual feed” where you insert an envelope or special paper one at a time to print. There is no tray to put them on, you must insert them through a slit in the side and only one at a time, it seems. But other than that, a great all around machine for the money!
